Kora Silk Tissue Pastel Rangkaat Banarasi with Kaduwa Meenakari Zari
Rangkaat Colour-Block Body · Kaduwa Meenakari Buti · Red Zari Border
Extremely elegant, rich and utterly unique — this is Banarasi weaving at its most accomplished. The saree is crafted in the rare Rangkaat technique, where the body is woven in horizontal bands of pastel Kora silk tissue: sage green, pale gold, soft mauve and powder blue, each stripe luminous and sheer in the light. Across every band, large Kaduwa Meenakari buti are individually woven — each motif a bouquet of coloured silk flowers in crimson, saffron, turquoise and ivory set within a gold zari frame. The deep red border and pallu carry the same meenakari florals in pure gold zari. A saree that commands a room the moment you walk in.

Rangkaat is one of Varanasi's rarest and most demanding weave structures — the word means "colour cut", referring to the way distinct colour bands are separated and woven on the loom. Combined with the Kaduwa technique, where each coloured motif is worked with its own individual pirn rather than carried across the full width, this saree represents weeks of a master weaver's undivided attention. There are no loose threads on the reverse, no shortcuts, no concessions. Fewer than a handful of weavers in Varanasi still practise both techniques together at this level.
